
MELBOURNE – Mitchell Humphries scored two goals and two points to Patrick O’Kane helped the Melbourne Mustangs defeat the Melbourne Ice in a shootout 5-4 at the O’Brien Group Arena on Friday.
The first goal for Humphries was scored at 10:14 of the third period, with Michael McMahon and O’Kane picking up the assists. The second goal for Humphries, a power play goal, was scored at 5:43 of the third period, with Sean Jones and McMahon picking up the assists.
O’Kane and Benjamin Davies scored one goal and one assist for two points each, while Brendan McDowell and McMahon got two assists for two points each.
Dillon Lawrence scored his first goal for the Ice, a power play goal, at 2:05 of the first period, with Dylan Anderson and Nate Fleming picking up the assists. Lawrence’s second goal came at 6:47 of the second period, with Devon Krogh getting the assist.
Sam Hodic scored his first AIHL goal, and Anderson got two assists for two points.
Aleksi Toivonen was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 25 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.862. Michael James was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 27 saves on 31 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.871.
