SYDNEY – Anthony Kimlin stopped all 34 shots he faced and Michael Schlamp scored two points as the Sydney Bears beat the Newcastle Northstars 2-0 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.

Kimlin did not allow a goal against a Northstars team that had amassed 43 goals in eleven games played, scoring 3.9 goals per game before today’s match.

Michael Schlamp scored at 3:43 of the first period, assisted by Graeme Strukoff and Charles Adams. The Bears were on the power play, as Sam Lawson was in the box for a high sticking penalty.

Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 34 saves on 35 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.971. Davis left the game at 19:17 of the third period. It backfired, as Ryan Lough scored an empty net goal at 0:24 of the third period, assisted by Charles Adams and Michael Schlamp.
