Lawrence’s Two Help Ice Beat Mustangs

MELBOURNE – Two goals to Dillon Lawrence and a goal to Matt Armstrong the Melbourne Ice beat the Melbourne Mustangs 4-1 at the O’Brien Group Arena on Friday.

Lawrence’s first goal came at 12:56 of the second period, with Scott Corbett getting the assist. The second goal for Lawrence, a short handed goal, was scored at 3:06 of the second period, with Nate Fleming getting the assist.

Matt Armstrong scored the game winning goal at 12:11 of the 1st, assisted by Dylan Anderson and Thomas Powell. This goal was also Armstrong’s 150th career AIHL goal.

Cassian Delsar scored the fourth Melbourne Ice goal at 12:58 of the first period, assisted by from Sam Hodic and Jeremy Chai.

The lone Mustangs goal was scored at 11:34 of the second period by Brendan McDowell, with the assist from Jamie Bourke.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 20 saves on 21 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.952. Petri Pitkänen was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 18 saves on 22 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.818. Pitkänen left the game at 18:17 of the third period.
