
MELBOURNE – A goal at 0:12 of the 2nd period to Lliam Webster was the difference as the Melbourne Ice beat the Sydney Bears 2-1 at the O’Brien Group Arena on Saturday evening.
Scott Corbett opened the scoring for the Ice at 13:42 of the first period, assisted by Todd Graham. This goal triggered a teddy bear toss, to the benefit of the Allanah and Madeline Foundation.
Ryan Lough put the Bears on the board at 0:31, tying the game at 1-1. Webster scored the game winning goal at 0:12 of the 2nd, assisted by Nate Fleming and Dillon Lawrence.
James Downie was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 30 saves on 31 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.968. Downie made some important saves during the third period, where he faced 18 shots from the Bears. Anthony Kimlin was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 25 saves on 27 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.926. Kimlin left the game at 18:41 of the third period.
