Rivait’s Two Help Northstars Defeat Ice Dogs

NEWCASTLE – Nick Rivait found the back of the net twice and Richard Tesarik scored twice as the Newcastle Northstars defeated the Sydney Ice Dogs 6-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Rivait scored his first goal at 2:45 of the first period, with Shane Southwood and Patrick Ward picking up the assists. Rivait scored his second goal at 5:31 of the second period, with Joseph Harcharik and Sam Lawson picking up the assists.

Tesarik scored his first goal, a short handed goal, at 6:08 of the first period, with Rivait getting the assist. The second goal for Tesarik was scored at 0:11 of the third period unassisted.

Sam Lawson scored the game winning goal at 7:04 of the 3rd, assisted by Hayden Sheard.

Grant Toulmin scored his first goal for the Ice Dogs at 2:10 of the first period, with Geordie Wudrick and Bryan Kolodziejczyk picking up the assists. The second goal for Toulmin, a short handed goal, was scored at 18:30 of the third period, with Geordie Wudrick getting the assist.

Geordie Wudrick scored one goal and two assists for three points for the Ice Dogs.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 25 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.862. Curtis Skip was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 37 saves on 42 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.881.
