
MELBOURNE – Brett Ferguson scored two goals and Benjamin Davies found the back of the net twice as the Melbourne Mustangs beat the CBR Brave 6-3 at the O’Brien Group Arena on Sunday afternoon.
Ferguson scored his first goal, a short handed goal, at 14:11 of the second period, with Benjamin Davies getting the assist. The second goal for Ferguson, a power play goal, was scored at 15:04 of the third period, with Jamie Bourke and Mitchell Humphries picking up the assists.
Davies’ first goal came at 2:41 of the first period, with Brett Ferguson and Nikita Kolesnikovs picking up the assists. The second goal for Davies, an empty net goal, was scored at 0:34 of the third period, with Brett Ferguson and Nikita Kolesnikovs picking up the assists.
Jamie Bourke scored the game winning goal at 8:10 of the 2nd, assisted by Damian Bright and Nikita Kolesnikovs.
Nikita Kolesnikovs scored one goal and three assists for four points.
Trevor Gerling and Ainars Podzins scored one goal and one assist for two points for the Brave, while Matthew Harvey got two assists for two points.
Petri Pitkänen was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 27 saves on 30 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.900. Mat Hewitt was the losing goalie for CBR Brave, making 16 saves on 21 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.762. Hewitt left the game at 18:18 of the third period. It backfired, as Benjamin Davies scored an empty net goal at 0:34 of the third period, assisted by Brett Ferguson and Nikita Kolesnikovs.
