Two Points By Powell, Armstrong Help Ice Win Over Northstars

NEWCASTLE – Thomas Powell tallied two points and Matt Armstrong tallied two points as the Melbourne Ice beat the Newcastle Northstars 4-3 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Thomas Powell scored a power play goal at 3:02 of the first period, assisted by Todd Graham and Matt Armstrong.

Armstrong scored at 10:17 of the second period, assisted by Powell.

Nate Fleming scored the game winning goal at 2:28 of the 3rd, assisted by Christian Pansino and Dylan Anderson.

Nick Rivait scored his first goal for the Northstars, a short handed goal, at 2:10 of the second period, with Joseph Harcharik getting the assist. Rivait’s second goal came at 0:11 of the third period, with Robert Malloy and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists.

Robert Malloy and Joseph Harcharik got two assists for two points for Newcastle.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 38 saves on 41 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.927. Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 20 saves on 24 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.833.
