
NEWCASTLE – Charles Adams scored three points and Ryan Lough scored the game winning goal the Sydney Bears beat the Newcastle Northstars 5-2 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Adams scored at 14:34 of the second period, scoring unassisted and giving the Bears a lead they would not relinquish. Adams also picked up two assists for three points.
Ryan Lough scored the game winning goal at 14:23 of the 2nd, assisted by Adams and Tyerell Clare.
Clare and Michael Schlamp scored one goal and one assist for two points each, while Ryan Annesley got two assists for two points.
Joseph Harcharik got two assists for two points for the Northstars.
Anthony Kimlin was the winning goalie for Sydney Bears, making 22 saves on 24 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.917. Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 30 saves on 34 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.882. Davis left the game at 19:10 of the third period. It backfired, as Michael Schlamp scored an empty net goal at 0:19 of the third period, assisted by Ryan Annesley and Graeme Strukoff.
