
MELBOURNE – Benjamin Davies tallied two points and two points to Brett Ferguson helped the Melbourne Mustangs defeat the Adelaide Adrenaline 5-4 in a shootout at the O’Brien Group Arena on Saturday evening.
Davies scored at 11:53 of the first period, assisted by Patrick O’Kane and Michael McMahon.
Ferguson’s power play goal came at 3:17 of the first period, with assists going to Jamie Bourke and Michael McMahon.
At 4:31 of the third period, O’Kane scored his goal, assisted by Brett Ferguson and Benjamin Davies.
For the Adrenaline, Corey Stringer and Ales Kratoska scored one goal and one assist each for two points each. Harley Anderson and Steve Best also scored.
Aleksi Toivonen was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 14 saves on 18 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.778. Toivonen left the game at 49:47 of the 3rd period. Sebastian Andersson was the losing goalie for Adelaide Adrenaline, making 45 saves on 49 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.918.
