Lough’s Two Help Bears Win Over Northstars

NEWCASTLE – Two goals to Ryan Lough and Graeme Strukoff earned two points as the Sydney Bears won over the Newcastle Northstars 4-3 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Lough’s first goal, a short handed goal, came at 11:35 of the second period unassisted. Lough scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 14:18 of the third period, with Charles Adams getting the assist.

Graeme Strukoff scored one goal and one assist for two points, and Charles Adams got two assists for two points.

This game also marked Michael Schlamp’s 250th AIHL game. Schlamp scored at 1:18 of the second period, assisted by Graeme Strukoff and Charles Adams. Schlamp also picked up a slashing penalty at 1:48 of the third period.

Sammy Banga’s first goal for the Northstars came at 9:38 of the first period, with Joseph Harcharik and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists. Banga’s second goal came at 3:08 of the second period, with Nick Rivait and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists.

Joseph Harcharik got two assists for two points, and Richard Tesarik got two assists for two points.

Anthony Kimlin was the winning goalie for Sydney Bears, making 27 saves on 30 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.900. Dayne Davis, in his 100th AIHL game, was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 23 saves on 27 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.852.
