Virjassov Leads The Way, Mustangs Blow Away Adrenaline

ADELAIDE – Vadim Virjassov found the back of the net twice and Patrick O’Kane scored twice as the Melbourne Mustangs blew away the Adelaide Adrenaline 7-1 at the IceArenA on Saturday afternoon.

The first goal for Virjassov, a power play goal, was scored at 7:33 of the second period, with Nikita Kolesnikovs and Sean Jones picking up the assists. The second goal for Virjassov was scored at 0:47 of the second period, with Jackson McCoy and Jones picking up the assists.

The first goal for O’Kane was scored at 0:04 of the first period, with Brett Ferguson and Troy Robertson picking up the assists. O’Kane’s second goal came at 7:04 of the third period, with Benjamin Davies and Ferguson picking up the assists.

Ferguson got three assists for three points, Davies scored one goal and one assist for two points, and Sean Jones and Michael McMahon got two assists for two points each.

Ales Kratoska scored the lone Adrenaline goal at 7:49in the third period, from Josef Rezek and Jamie Holland.

There were 4 penalties at 1:48 of the 3rd period, resulting in 26 minutes of penalties. Kratoska got four minutes for roughing and a ten minute misconduct, Rezek got a ten minute misconduct, and Ferguson for the Mustangs got two minutes for roughing. At 1:05 of the 3rd period, Mitchell Humphries and Caleb Apperson got game misconduct penalties and five minute major penalties for fighting.

Aleksi Toivonen was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 18 saves on 19 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.947. Sebastian Andersson was the losing goalie for Adelaide Adrenaline, making 33 saves on 40 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.825.
