
MELBOURNE – Brett Ferguson found the back of the net twice and two goals to Benjamin Davies helped the Melbourne Mustangs beat the Perth Thunder 5-2 at the O’Brien Group Arena on Saturday evening.
The first goal for Ferguson, a power play goal, was scored at 4:54 of the first period, with Jamie Bourke and Michael McMahon picking up the assists. Ferguson’s second goal came at 15:42 of the third period, with Davies and Patrick O’Kane picking up the assists.
Davies’ first goal came at 2:14 of the first period, with Ferguson and O’Kane picking up the assists. Davies’ second goal came at 13:30 of the second period, with Brendan McDowell and Mitchell Humphries picking up the assists.
Jamie Bourke scored one goal and one assist for two points, while Patrick O’Kane got two assists for two points.
Landon Oslanski scored one goal and one assist for two points for the Thunder, and Pier-Olivier Grandmaison scored one goal and one assist for two points.
Aleksi Toivonen was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920. Peter Di Salvo was the losing goalie for Perth Thunder, making 24 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.828.
