Banga Gets Three Points As Northstars Defeat Bears

NEWCASTLE – Three points to Sammy Banga and Francis Drolet’s two points helped as the Newcastle Northstars won over the Sydney Bears 4-3 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Sammy Banga scored at 5:26 of the first period, assisted by Francis Drolet and Robert Malloy.

Francis Drolet scored at 1:33 of the first period, with assists going to Jayden Ryan and Sammy Banga.

Timothy Stanger scored the game winning goal at 14:18 of the 3rd, assisted by David Ferrari and Dominik Gabaj.

Tied at the end of two periods, the game started to get a little rough. There were 3 penalties at 14:35 of the 3rd period, resulting in 6 minutes of penalties. Jeremy Brücker and David Ferrari each got Unsportsmanlike Conduct penalties, and Brücker also got a hooking call.

There were 4 penalties at 9:47 of the 3rd period, resulting in 8 minutes of penalties. Roughing penalties were given to Timothy Newmark and Jeremy Brücker of the Bears, and to Hamish Powell and Robert Malloy of the Northstars.

William Lamoureux of the Bears scored one goal and one assist for two points. Bears goals also came from Timothy Newmark and Thomas Steven.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 34 saves on 37 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.919. Anthony Kimlin was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 21 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.840.
