Malloy, Gabaj Get Two Points As Northstars Win Over Thunder

NEWCASTLE – Robert Malloy and Dominik Gabaj tallied two points each as the Newcastle Northstars beat the Perth Thunder 5-3 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Malloy and Gabaj scored one goal and one assist for two points.

Malloy opened the scoring at 11:52 of the first period, assisted by Sammy Banga and Shane Southwood. Gabaj scored the game winning goal at 11:17 of the 3rd, assisted by Richard Tesarik and Malloy.

Banga and David Ferrari finished the game with two assists each for two points.

Keven Veilleux scored his first goal for Perth at 4:11 of the first period, with Robert Haselhurst getting the assist. Veilleux’s second goal came at 1:07 of the second period, with Haselhurst again picking up the assist.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 25 saves on 28 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.893. Nico Viksten was the losing goalie for Perth Thunder, making 41 saves on 46 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.891.
