Banga Scores Hat Trick As Northstars Beat Ice

NEWCASTLE – A hat trick to Sammy Banga and three points to Ondrej Smach helped the Newcastle Northstars win over the Melbourne Ice 4-1 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Banga’s first goal came at 3:22 of the second period, with Robert Malloy and Ondrej Smach picking up the assists. Banga scored his second goal at 1:57 of the second period, with Ondrej Smach and Robert Malloy picking up the assists. Banga’s third goal came at 13:53 of the third period, with Jayden Ryan and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.

Ondrej Smach scored at 13:17 of the second period, assisted by Richard Tesarik and Tomas Landa. Smach also had two assists for three points.

Robert Malloy got two assists for two points, while Jayden Ryan, Francis Drolet and Richard Tesarik picked up an assist each.

Jesse Schwartz scored the lone Ice goal at 14:10 of the second period, assisted by Jacob Lundgren and Kasey Kulczycki

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 28 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.966. Sebastian Andersson was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 28 saves on 32 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.875.
