
Virjassov Leads The Way, Mustangs Defeat Northstars
NEWCASTLE – Vadim Virjassov found the back of the net twice and a goal to Jamie Bourke the Melbourne Mustangs won over the Newcastle Northstars 3-2 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Virjassov scored his first goal at 14:46 of the second period, with Damian Bright getting the assist. The second goal for Virjassov was scored at 8:39 of the second period, with Parker Thomas and Maxime Langelier-Parent picking up the assists.
Jamie Bourke scored the game winning goal at 13:02 of the 3rd, assisted by Maxime Langelier-Parent and Troy Robertson.
Maxime Langelier-Parent got two assists for two points.
For the Northdstars, Ondrej Smach and Sammy Banga scored one goal and one assist for two points each.
Jaden Pine-Murphy was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 22 saves on 24 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.917. Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 24 saves on 27 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.889.
