SYDNEY – Francis Drolet scored two goals and Liam Manwarring scored the game winning goal as the Newcastle Northstars defeated the Sydney Bears 3-2 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Sunday evening.
The first goal for Drolet was scored at 10:53 of the second period, with David Ferrari and Sammy Banga picking up the assists. Drolet’s second goal came at 14:20 of the third period, with Hamish Powell and Jayden Ryan picking up the assists.
Liam Manwarring scored the game winning goal at 7:19 of the 3rd, assisted by Francis Drolet and Patrick Nadin.
Timothy Newmark and Jeremy Brücker were the goal scorers for the Bears. Jeremy Brücker also picked up an assist, giving him two points for the night.
Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 31 saves on 33 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.939. Anthony Kimlin was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 36 saves on 39 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.923.
