Nadin Leads The Way As Northstars Beat Ice Dogs

NEWCASTLE – Patrick Nadin found the back of the net twice and Sammy Banga tallied three points as the Newcastle Northstars beat the Sydney Ice Dogs 5-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Nadin’s first goal, a power play goal, came at 5:54 of the first period, with Sammy Banga and Robert Malloy picking up the assists. The second goal for Nadin, another power play goal, was scored at 12:03 of the third period, with Sammy Banga and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.

Sammy Banga got three assists for three points.

Robert Malloy scored a power play goal at 7:04 of the second period, assisted by Sammy Banga and Patrick Nadin.  Malloy also registered an assist for two points in the game.

Trey Phillips scored the game winning goal at 3:19 of the 3rd, assisted by Patrick Nadin.

Alec Stephenson scored two goals for the Ice Dogs.  His first goal was scored at 3:01 of the second period, with Paul Crowder and Dylan Manierka-Quaile picking up the assists. Stephenson’s second goal came at 0:13 of the third period, with Dylan Manierka-Quaile and picking up the assists.

Dylan Manierka-Quaile scored one goal and three assists for four points.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 34 saves on 38 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.895.  Garrett Bartus was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 21 saves on 26 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.808.
