Lazzarotto Scores Two As Ice Win Over Mustangs

MELBOURNE – Paul Lazzarotto found the back of the net twice and Mackenzie Caruana’s game winning goal saw the Melbourne Ice beat the Melbourne Mustangs 3-2 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday afternoon.

Lazzarotto’s first goal came at 7:59 of the first period, with Jonathon Bremner and Darcy Flanagan picking up the assists. The second goal for Lazzarotto was scored at 6:48 of the first period, with Jack Carpenter and Austin McKenzie picking up the assists.

Mackenzie Caruana scored the game winning goal at 5:36 of the 3rd, assisted by Matt Armstrong and Jack Carpenter.

Jack Carpenter got two assists for two points.

Vadim Virjassov scored one goal and one assist for two points for the Mustangs, while Parker Thomas got two assists for two points.

Sebastian Andersson was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 29 saves on 31 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.935.  Jaden Pine-Murphy was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 21 saves on 24 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.875. Pine-Murphy left the game at 18:55 of the third period, however the Mustangs were able to captialise while having the extra attacker.
