Banga’s Two Help Northstars Crush Thunder

NEWCASTLE – Sammy Banga scored two goals and Robert Malloy scored the game winning goal as the Newcastle Northstars crushed the Perth Thunder 6-1 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Banga scored his first goal at 8:18 of the second period, with Patrick Ward and Francis Drolet picking up the assists. Banga’s second goal came at 1:06 of the second period, with Trey Phillips and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.

Robert Malloy scored the game winning goal at 13:04 of the 2nd, assisted by Sammy Banga and

Luke Simpson and Jayden Ryan rounded out the goals for the Northstars.  Francis Drolet got three assists for three points, while Trey Phillips got two assists for two points.

Keven Veilleux was the lone goal scorer for the Thunder, scoring at 1:56 of the second period, assisted by Alastair Punler and Tomek Sak.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 32 saves on 33 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.970.  Nico Viksten was the losing goalie for Perth Thunder, making 24 saves on 30 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.800.
