
NEWCASTLE – Trey Phillips found the back of the net twice and two points to Tomas Landa helped the Newcastle Northstars defeat the Sydney Ice Dogs in overtime 5-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.
Phillips’ first goal came at 1:10 of the second period, with Sammy Banga and Tomas Landa picking up the assists. Phillips scored his second goal at 1:41 of overtime, with Sammy Banga and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.
Tomas Landa, Sammy Banga and Francis Drolet all got two assists for two points each.
For the Ice Dogs, Dylan Manierka-Quaile and Tim Crowder scored one goal and two assists for three points each. Jeremy Vasquez and Grant Toulmin scored one goal and one assist for two points each.
Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 19 saves on 23 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.826. Garrett Bartus was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 37 saves on 42 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.881.
