
MELBOURNE – Jesse Gabrielle scored four goals and Wehebe Darge earned two points as the CBR Brave defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 4-2 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Sunday afternoon.
Gabrielle scored his first goal at 18:16 of the third period, with Casey Kubara and Wehebe Darge picking up the assists. Gabrielle’s second goal came at 18:00 of the third period, with assists to Joseph Hughes and Wehebe Darge. Gabrielle’s third goal, a short handed goal, came at 6:53 of the third period, with Adam Kambeitz getting the assist. The fourth goal for Gabrielle was scored at 0:40 of the third period, an empty net goal, with Conor Riley picking up the assist.
Wehebe Darge got two assists for two points.
Jordan Owens scored his first goal for the Mustangs at 13:49 of the second period, assisted by Thomas Flack. Owens’ second goal, a power play goal, came at 6:29 of the third period, with the assist to Mitchell Humphries.
Matthew Climie was the winning goalie for CBR Brave, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920. Kevin Nastiuk was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 23 saves on 27 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.852. Nastiuk left the game at 18:42 of the third period for an extra attacker, but the Mustangs were unable to capitalise.
