Powell’s Three Points Help Ice Beat Northstars

MELBOURNE – Three points to Tom Powell and two points to Kasey Kulczycki helped the Melbourne Ice beat the Newcastle Northstars 4-3 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday evening.

Tom Powell scored an unassisted goal with 2:49 remaining in the third period.  This goal stood as the game winning goal.  Powell also got two assists for three points.

Kasey Kulczycki got two assists for two points.  Todd Graham Mackenzie Caruana and JM Piotrowski scored for the Ice.

Tomas Landa got two assists for two points.  Jayden Ryan, Richard Tesarik and Sammy Banga were the goal scorers for the Northstars.

Sebastian Andersson was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 33 saves on 36 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.917.  Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 33 saves on 37 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.892. Davis left the game at 18:00 of the third period for an extra attacker, however the Northstars were unable to capitalise with the man advantage.
