
SYDNEY – Sammy Banga’s game winning goal and Trey Phillips’ two points helped the Newcastle Northstars defeat the Sydney Bears 3-1 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Friday evening.
Sammy Banga scored the game winning goal, a power play goal, at 2:59 of the 2nd, assisted by Trey Phillips.
Francis Drolet and Robert Malloy also scored for the Northstars. Trey Phillips got two assists for two points.
Jake Ratcliffe scored the lone goal for the Bears at 5:37 of the third period, assisted by Thomas Steven and Danick Gauthier.
Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 25 saves on 26 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.962. Anthony Kimlin was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 35 saves on 38 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.921.
