Thomas, Bourke Lead The Way, Mustangs Win Over Thunder

MELBOURNE – Two goals to each of Parker Thomas and Jamie Bourke helped the Melbourne Mustangs beat the Perth Thunder 6-3 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday evening.

The first goal for Thomas was scored at 5:43 of the first period, with Patrick O’Kane and Jordan Owens picking up the assists. The second goal for Thomas, a power play goal, was scored at 12:53 of the third period, with Patrick O’Kane and Vadim Virjassov picking up the assists.

Bourke scored his first goal at 15:48 of the third period, with Vadim Virjassov and Damian Bright picking up the assists. The second goal for Bourke, a power play goal, was scored at 1:32 of the third period, with Parker Thomas and Christian Isackson picking up the assists.

Vadim Virjassov and Christian Isackson scored one goal and one assist for two points each.

Kieren Webster and Keven Veilleux scored one goal and two assists for three points each for the Thunder.  James Woodman scored one goal and one assist for two points.

Kevin Nastiuk was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 23 saves on 26 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.885.  Nico Viksten was the losing goalie for Perth Thunder, making 35 saves on 41 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.854.
