Cox’s Two Goals Help Thunder Defeat Ice Dogs

PERTH – Andrew Cox found the back of the net twice and two goals to Jake Gilmour helped the Perth Thunder defeated the Sydney Ice Dogs 7-5 at the Perth Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Cox’s first goal came at 2:50 of the second period, with Jordan Kyros and Benjamin Breault picking up the assists. The second goal for Cox was scored at 0:18 of the second period, with Benjamin Breault and David Kudla picking up the assists.

Gilmour’s first goal came at 7:01 of the first period, with Alastair Punler and Andrew Cox picking up the assists. The second goal for Gilmour was scored at 5:48 of the first period, with Shaun Tobin and Alastair Punler picking up the assists.

Robert Haselhurst scored the game winning goal at 5:58 of the 3rd, assisted by Louick Marcotte and Benjamin Breault.

Benjamin Breault scored one goal and three assists for four points, Louick Marcotte scored one goal and two assists for three points, and Alastair Punler got two assists for two points.

Manierka-Quaile scored his first goal for the Ice Dogs, a power play goal, at 6:52 of the second period, with Tim Crowder and Paul Crowder picking up the assists. The second goal for Manierka-Quaile was scored at 4:04 of the third period, with Connor Lee and Paul Crowder picking up the assists.

Paul Crowder scored one goal and four assists for five points, and Tim Crowder scored one goal and two assists for three points.

Nico Viksten was the winning goalie for Perth Thunder, making 30 saves on 35 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.857.  Garrett Bartus was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 43 saves on 50 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.860.
