
MELBOURNE – Thomas Flack scored two points and Brendan McDowell scored the game winning goal as the Melbourne Mustangs beat the Melbourne Ice 5-1 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Friday night.
Thomas Flack opened the scoring for the game, scoring at 11:22 of the second period. The goal was assisted by Mitchell Humphries and Matt Anderson. Flack also got one assist for two points.
Brendan McDowell scored the game winning goal at 15:34 of the 3rd, assisted by Tristan Darling and Mitchell Humphries.
This was the first of four goals in the third period for the Mustangs, the others being scored by Sean Jones, Parker Thomas and Vadim Virjassov.
Jamie Bourke and Mitchell Humphries got two assists for two points each.
JM Piotrowski scored the lone Ice goal at 0:43 of the second period, assisted by Thomas Powell and Thomas Stahlhuth.
Kevin Nastiuk was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 16 saves on 17 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.941. Sebastian Andersson was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 33 saves on 38 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.868.
