
NEWCASTLE – Two points to Joseph Hughes and two points to Wehebe Darge helped the CBR Brave beat the Newcastle Northstars 4-2 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Joseph Hughes scored at 5:33 of the first period, assisted by Bayley Kubara and Jesse Gabrielle. Hughes picked up an assist for two points.
Wehebe Darge scored his goal, a power play goal, at 4:43 of the second period. The assists went to Hughes and Gabrielle. Darge also got an assist for two points.
Casey Kubara scored the game winning goal at 7:22 of the 2nd, assisted by Wehebe Darge and Tyler Kubara. Hayden Dawes also scored for the Brave.
Bayley Kubara and Jesse Gabrielle got two assists for two points each.
Richard Tesarik scored a goal for the Northstars at 1:54 of the first period. The power play goal was assisted by Sammy Banga and Robert Malloy.
The other Northstars goal was scored by Sammy Banga at 15:15 of the third period. Patrick Nadin and Richard Tesarik picked up the assists.
Matthew Climie was the winning goalie for CBR Brave, making 15 saves on 16 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.938. Alex Tetreault was the backup goalie for CBR Brave, taking over at the start of the third period, and making 10 saves on 11 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.909. Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 45 saves on 49 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.918.
