
SYDNEY – Christian Isackson scored two goals and two points to Vadim Virjassov helped the Melbourne Mustangs win over the Sydney Ice Dogs 3-1 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.
The first goal for Isackson was scored at 13:06 of the first period, with Vadim Virjassov and Brendan McDowell picking up the assists. Isackson scored his second goal at 12:52 of the second period, with Vadim Virjassov and Jamie Bourke picking up the assists.
Matt Anderson scored a short-handed goal for the Mustangs at 7:41 of the second period, assisted by Jordan Owens and Tristan Darling.
Tim Crowder scored the lone Ice Dogs goal at 5:40 of the second period, with Grant Toulmin and James Marino getting the assists.
Kevin Nastiuk was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 13 saves on 14 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.929. Garrett Bartus was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 17 saves on 20 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.850. Bartus left the game at 17:51 of the third period, but the Ice Dogs were unable to take advantage of the extra attacker.
