Marcotte’s Hat Trick Help Thunder Beat Northstars

PERTH – Louick Marcotte scored a hat trick and three points to Kieren Webster helped the Perth Thunder win over the Newcastle Northstars 5-3 at the Perth Ice Arena on Saturday afternoon.

Marcotte’s first goal came at 4:09 of the second period, with Keven Veilleux and James Woodman picking up the assists. The second goal for Marcotte was scored at 2:57 of the third period, with assists going to Keven Veilleux and Robert Haselhurst. Marcotte’s third goal came at 0:13 of the third period, with Kieren Webster and James Woodman picking up the assists.

Kieren Webster scored the game’s first goal, a power play goal, at 5:59 of the first period.  Woodman’s goal was assisted by Robert Haselhurst and Benjamin Breault.  Webster also got two assists for three points.

Keven Veilleux scored one goal and two assists for three points.  Robert Haselhurst and James Woodman got two assists for two points each.

Luke Simpson was scored twice for the Northstars.  The first goal was scored at 7:04 of the second period, with Hamish Powell and David Ferrari picking up the assists. Simpson scored his second goal, a power play goal, at 5:24 of the second period, with Richard Tesarik and Matthew Lindsay picking up the assists.

Richard Tesarik got two assists for two points.

Nico Viksten was the winning goalie for Perth Thunder, making 32 saves on 35 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.914.  Dayne Davis was the losing goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 17 saves on 22 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.773.
