
PERTH – Two goals to both Francis Drolet and Robert Malloy saw the Newcastle Northstars beat the Perth Thunder 7-3 at the Perth Ice Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The first goal for Drolet was scored at 2:56 of the first period, with Sammy Banga and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists. Drolet’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 4:08 of the second period, with Sammy Banga and Robert Malloy picking up the assists.
Malloy’s first goal, a power play goal and the eventual game-winner, came at 10:14 of the second period, with Sammy Banga and Francis Drolet picking up the assists. Malloy’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 14:10 of the third period, with Sammy Banga and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists.
Richard Tesarik scored one goal and one assist for two points, with Shane Southwood and Timothy Stanger rounding out the goal-scorers for Newcastle. Sammy Banga got five assists for five points, and both Patrick Nadin and Luke Simpson got two assists for two points each.
Thunder goals were scored by Kevek Veilleux, Andrew Cox and Robert Haselhurst.
Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 36 saves on 39 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.923. Nico Viksten was the losing goalie for Perth Thunder, making 36 saves on 43 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.837.
