Virjassov’s Two Help Mustangs Beat Bears

MELBOURNE – Two goals to Vadim Virjassov and the game-winning goal to Jordan Owens saw the Melbourne Mustangs beat the Sydney Bears 6-2 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Sunday afternoon.

The first goal for Virjassov, a short handed goal, was scored at 9:11 of the first period, with Christian Isackson picking up the assist. The second goal for Virjassov was scored at 9:25 of the second period, with the assist going to Christian Isackson.

Jordan Owens scored the game winning goal at 17:23 of the 3rd, assisted by Parker Thomas and Christian Isackson.

Christian Isackson got three assists for three points, while Parker Thomas and Matt Anderson got two assists for two points each.

The first goal for Jake Ratcliffe of the Bears was scored at 6:27 of the first period, with assists going to Danick Gauthier and Ryan Annesley. Ratcliffe scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 1:39 of the first period, with Danick Gauthier picking up the assist.

Danick Gauthier got two assists for two points.

Kevin Nastiuk was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 19 saves on 21 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.905.  Anthony Kimlin was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 35 saves on 41 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.854.
