Kubara’s Two Help Brave Beat Mustangs

CANBERRA – Casey Kubara scored two goals and Wehebe Darge found the back of the net twice as the CBR Brave defeated the Melbourne Mustangs 7-4 at the Phillip Ice Skating Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Kubara’s first goal came at 4:46 of the second period, with Conor Riley and Wehebe Darge picking up the assists. Kubara scored his second goal at 2:15 of the second period, with Matthew Price and Wehebe Darge picking up the assists.

The first goal for Darge was scored at 1:26 of the second period, with Matthew Price and Jesse Gabrielle picking up the assists. The second goal for Darge, a power play goal, was scored at 16:03 of the third period, with Tyler Kubara and Conor Riley picking up the assists.

Jesse Gabrielle’s first goal came at 8:43 of the second period unassisted. The second goal for Gabrielle, an empty net goal, was scored at 0:10 of the third period, with Conor Riley and Joseph Hughes picking up the assists.

Adam Kambeitz scored the game winning goal at 17:17 of the 3rd, assisted by Jesse Gabrielle and Conor Riley.

Conor Riley got four assists for four points, while Matthew Price got two assists for two points.

Christian Isackson’s first goal for the Mustangs came at 12:21 of the second period, with Vadim Virjassov and Jamie Bourke picking up the assists. Isackson scored his second goal at 2:31 of the second period, with Jordan Owens picking up the assist.

Bradley Apps and Brendan McDowell scored one goal and one assist for two points each.

Matthew Climie was the winning goalie for CBR Brave, making 16 saves on 20 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.800.  Kevin Nastiuk was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 28 saves on 35 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.800. Nastiuk left the game at 18:58 of the third period for an extra attacker, however it backfired, as Jesse Gabrielle scored an empty net goal at 0:10 of the third period, assisted by Conor Riley and Joseph Hughes.
