
SYDNEY – Richard Tesarik and Sammy Banga tallied two points each as the Newcastle Northstars won in a shoot-out over the Sydney Ice Dogs 5-4 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Sunday.
Richard Tesarik scored the first goal of the game for the Northstars at 11:45 of the first period, assisted by Matthew Lindsay. Tesarik also picked up one assist for two points.
Sammy Banga scored his goal at 7:17 of the second period unassisted. Banga also got an assist for two points.
Patrick Nadin scored the game tying goal at 5:08 of the 3rd, assisted by Robert Malloy and Sammy Banga. Luke Simpson also scored for the Northstars.
Robert Malloy was the lone scorer in the shoot-out for either team, scoring in the fourth round.
Tim Crowder and Grant Toulmin scored one goal and three assists for four points each for the Ice Dogs. David Dunwoodie and Dylan Manierka-Quaile also scored for the Ice Dogs.
Charlie Smart was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 25 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.862. Garrett Bartus was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 25 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.862.
