Game Review: Dunwoodie Scores Two As Ice Dogs Beat Ice

MELBOURNE – David Dunwoodie scored two goals and Dylan Manierka-Quaile found the back of the net twice as the Sydney Ice Dogs won over the Melbourne Ice 6-4 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday evening.

Dunwoodie scored his first goal at 13:20 of the first period, with Strat Allen and Jeremy Vasquez picking up the assists. Dunwoodie’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 2:03 of the second period, with Dylan Manierka-Quaile and Tim Crowder picking up the assists.

Manierka-Quaile scored his first goal, a power play goal, at 9:28 of the second period, with Tim Crowder and Paul Crowder picking up the assists. The second goal for Manierka-Quaile, a short-handed, empty net goal, was scored at 2:21 of the third period, with Tomas Manco and Tim Crowder picking up the assists.

Paul Crowder scored the game winning goal at 10:34 of the 3rd, assisted by David Dunwoodie and Lachlan Fahmy.

Tim Crowder scored one goal and three assists for four points, while Strat Allen got two assists for two points.

Austin McKenzie from the Melbourne Ice scored one goal and one assist for two points, while Sam Hodic got three assists for three points.

There were 182 minutes worth of penalties for this game.  There were 10 penalties at 13:56 of the third period, resulting in 158 minutes of penalties.  James Marino, Alec Stephenson and Henrik Ahlin from the Ice Dogs got Match penalties, as did Darcy Flanagan, Christian Pansino and Kahu Joyce from the Ice.

Garrett Bartus was the winning goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 27 saves on 31 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.871.  Thomas Munro was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 39 saves on 45 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.867. Munro left the game at 18:30 of the third period for an extra attacker. It backfired, as Dylan Manierka-Quaile scored an empty net goal at 2:21 of the third period, assisted by Tomas Manco and Tim Crowder.
