Game Review: Goal By Banga The Difference As Northstars Defeat Mustangs

NEWCASTLE – Sammy Banga scored the game winning goal at 3:34 of overtime and two points to Robert Malloy helped the Newcastle Northstars beat the Melbourne Mustangs 3-2 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Robert Malloy scored the Northstars’ first goal at 19:06 of the third period, assisted by Richard Tesarik.  Malloy also picked up an assist for two points.

Francis Drolet scored a goal for the Northstars, while Trey Phillips got two assists for two points.

Christian Isackson and Matt Anderson were the goal scorers for the Mustangs.  Jamie Bourke got two assists for two points for the Mustangs.

Dayne Davis was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920.  Kevin Nastiuk was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 26 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.897.
