
MELBOURNE – Keven Veilleux scored a hat trick and Benjamin Breault scored the game winning goal as the Perth Thunder crushed the Melbourne Ice 8-1 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday evening.
The first goal for Veilleux, a power play goal, was scored at 6:15 of the second period, with Benjamin Breault picking up the assist. Veilleux’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 13:24 of the third period, with assists going to Benjamin Breault and Kieren Webster. The third goal for Veilleux was scored at 0:21 of the third period, with Kieren Webster picking up the assist.
Benjamin Breault scored the game winning goal at 13:01 of the 2nd, assisted by Lynden Lodge and Andrew Cox. Breault also picked up three assists for four points in the game.
Louick Marcotte scored one goal and two assists for three points, Robert Haselhurst scored one goal and one assist for two points, and Kieren Webster got two assists for two points.
JM Piotrowski scored the lone Ice goal, a power play goal, at 0:44 of the second period, assisted by Samuel Sweatman and Jonathon Bremner.
Nico Viksten was the winning goalie for Perth Thunder, making 24 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.960. Thomas Munro was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 49 saves on 57 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.860.
