Game Review: Cox Leads The Way As Thunder Win Over Ice

MELBOURNE – Two goals to Andrew Cox and three points to Robert Haselhurst helped the Perth Thunder win over the Melbourne Ice 7-3 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Sunday afternoon.

The first goal for Cox was scored at 6:24 of the first period, with Robert Haselhurst and Shaun Tobin picking up the assists. Cox’s second goal came at 2:17 of the second period, with Nico Viksten and picking up the assists.

Robert Haselhurst scored for the Thunder at 2:22 of the first period, assisted by Kieren Webster and James Woodman.  Haselhurst also picked up two assists for three points.

Kieren Webster and Louick Marcotte scored one goal and two assists for three points.  Jason Mcmahon scored one goal and one assist for two points and Keven Veilleux got two assists for two points.

Nico Viksten was the winning goalie for Perth Thunder, making 21 saves on 24 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.875. Viksten left the game at 47:06 of the 3rd period.  Nick Windle was the backup goalie for Perth Thunder, making 3 saves on 3 shots, for a Save Percentage of 1.000. Windle joined the game with 2:54 remaining in the 3rd period.  Thomas Munro was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 41 saves on 48 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.854.
