
SYDNEY – Ty Wishart scored a hat trick and Scott Timmins tallied six points as the Melbourne Mustangs demolished the Sydney Bears 9-4 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Sunday evening.
The first goal for Wishart, a power play goal, was scored at 16:02 of the first period, with Scott Timmins and Jordan Warren picking up the assists. Wishart’s second goal came at 15:43 of the second period, with Stephen Belic and Jesse Thompson picking up the assists. Wishart scored his third goal, a short handed goal that became the game winner, at 5:36 of the second period, with Scott Timmins getting the assist.
Timmins scored his first goal at 0:18 of the second period unassisted. Timmins’ second goal, a short handed goal, came at 1:52 of the third period unassisted. Timmins also picked up four assists for six points.
Brendan McDowell, Stephen Belic and Jesse Thompson scored one goal and one assist each for two points each.
For the Bears, Thomas Moncrieff, Alexander Wardlaw and Aidan Wardlaw scored one goal and one assist for two points.
Alexander Gauthier got two assists for two points.
Sebastian Woodlands was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 21 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.840.
Gabe Robledo was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 28 saves on 37 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.757.
