
MELBOURNE – A hat trick to Francis Drolet and Daniel Berno scored two goals as the Newcastle Northstars crushed the Melbourne Ice 9-2 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Sunday afternoon.
Drolet’s first goal came at 5:44 of the first period, with Tomas Landa getting the assist. The second goal for Drolet was scored at 19:09 of the second period, with Ethan Hawes getting the assist. Drolet scored his third goal, a short handed goal, at 12:27 of the second period, with John Kennedy getting the assist. Drolet also got one assist for four points.
Berno scored his first goal at 5:27 of the first period, with Liam Manwarring getting the assist. Berno’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 9:25 of the third period, with Shane Southwood and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists. Berno also got an assist to get three points for the game.
Liam Manwarring and Patrick Nadin scored one goal and one assist each for two points each.
Robert Clark and Andrew Erzen scored the Melbourne Ice goals.
Charles Smart was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920. Michael James was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 34 saves on 43 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.791.
