Berno Hat Trick Leads The Way, Northstars Crush Bears

NEWCASTLE – Daniel Berno scored a hat trick and Beau Taylor scored two goals as the Newcastle Northstars smashed the Sydney Bears 7-1 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Berno’s first goal, a short handed goal, came at 15:58 of the first period, with Liam Manwarring and John Kennedy picking up the assists. Berno’s second goal came at 12:19 of the first period, with Ethan Hawes and David-James Jeremy picking up the assists. The third goal for Berno, a short handed goal, was scored at 13:36 of the second period, with Francis Drolet getting the assist.

Taylor’s first goal came at 3:10 of the first period, with Francis Drolet and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists. Taylor scored his second goal at 6:57 of the second period, with Francis Drolet and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists.

Patrick Nadin scored one goal and three assists for four points.

Francis Drolet got four assists for four points.

Ethan Hawes scored one goal and one assist for two points.

Brian Kim scored the lone Bears goal at 0:48 of the first period, assisted by Tyerell Clare.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 28 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.966.  Gabe Robledo was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 26 saves on 33 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.788.
