
MELBOURNE – Two goals to Mitchell Humphries and Vadim Virjassov found the back of the net twice as the Melbourne Mustangs crushed the Melbourne Ice 7-2 at the O’Brien Icehouse on Friday evening.
Humphries scored his first goal at 8:01 of the first period, with Sean Jones and Stephen Belic picking up the assists. Humphries’ second goal came at 10:40 of the second period, with Stephen Belic and Jesse Thompson picking up the assists. Humphries picked up one assist for three points.
The first goal for Virjassov, a short handed goal, was scored at 12:23 of the first period, with Jordan Warren getting the assist. Virjassov’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 7:10 of the third period, with Ty Wishart and Jordan Warren picking up the assists.
The first goal for Scott Timmins was scored at 7:02 of the second period, with Sean Jones and Mitchell Humphries picking up the assists. Timmins scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 0:24 of the second period, with Jaxson Lane getting the assist.
Ty Wishart scored one goal and one assist for two points, and Sean Jones got three assists for three points. Stephen Belic and Jordan Warren got two assists for two points each.
Zach Boyle scored one goal and one assist for two points for the Ice. Christian Pansino was the other goal scorer for the Ice.
Sebastian Woodlands was the winning goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 23 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.920. Michael James was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 36 saves on 43 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.837.
