Drolet’s Two Help Northstars Defeat Ice Dogs

NEWCASTLE – Francis Drolet scored two goals and three points to Beau Taylor helped the Newcastle Northstars beat the Sydney Ice Dogs 5-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Drolet scored his first goal, a power play goal, at 17:05 of the second period, with Robert Malloy and James Downie picking up the assists. Drolet’s second goal, a power play goal which became the game winner, came at 7:00 of the third period, with Beau Taylor and Robert Malloy picking up the assists.

Beau Taylor scored the opening goal of the game at 17:02 of the first period, assisted by Drolet and Riley Tonks.  Taylor also got two assists for three points.

Robert Malloy got three assists for three points.

Toulmin’s first goal for the Ice Dogs, a power play goal, came at 12:53 of the first period, with Cameron Todd and Jason Kvisle picking up the assists. Toulmin’s second goal, a short handed goal, came at 16:39 of the third period unassisted.

Strat Allen scored one goal and one assist for two points.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 21 saves on 25 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.840.  Jakob Doornbos was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 41 saves on 46 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.891.
