
SYDNEY – A hat trick to Liam Manwarring and Francis Drolet earned two points as the Newcastle Northstars smashed the Sydney Ice Dogs 8-2 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.
The first goal for Manwarring was scored at 14:10 of the first period, with Richard Tesarik getting the assist. The second goal for Manwarring, a power play goal, was scored at 11:13 of the third period, with Shane Southwood and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists. The third goal for Manwarring, a short handed goal, was scored at 9:46 of the third period, with Shane Southwood getting the assist.
Francis Drolet scored a short-handed goal at 10:28 of the third period, assisted by Daniel Berno and Ethan Hawes. Drolet also had one assist for two points.
Daniel Berno, Richard Tesarik and Shane Southwood all got two assists for two points each.
Mackenzie Gallagher scored the game winning goal at 8:53 of the 2nd, assisted by Richard Tesarik and James Downie.
Cameron Todd scored one goal and one assist for two points for the Ice Dogs.
James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 32 saves on 34 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.941. Jakob Doornbos was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 30 saves on 38 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.789.
