Malloy, Tesarik Lead The Way, Northstars Blow Away Ice

NEWCASTLE – Robert Malloy and Richard Tesarik scored two goals each as the Newcastle Northstars blew away the Melbourne Ice 8-2 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The first goal for Malloy was scored at 4:55 of the first period, with Patrick Nadin getting the assist. Malloy’s second goal came at 18:44 of the second period, with Richard Tesarik and Patrick Nadin picking up the assists.  Malloy also scored three assists for five points.

Tesarik scored his first goal, a power play goal, at 14:31 of the first period, with Daniel Berno and Robert Malloy picking up the assists. Tesarik scored his second goal at 19:04 of the third period, with Robert Malloy getting the assist.  Tesarik also scored two assists for four points.

Daniel Berno scored the game winning goal at 12:06 of the 1st, assisted by Liam Manwarring and Francis Drolet.  Berno scored two assists for three points.

Patrick Nadin scored one goal and three assists for four points.  Liam Manwarring and Riley Tonks scored one goal and one assist for two points each.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 21 saves on 23 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.913.  Bryan Mackenzie was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 45 saves on 53 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.849.
