
SYDNEY – Two goals to Josh Walt and Andrew Erzen helped the Melbourne Ice win over the Sydney Ice Dogs 5-4 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.
Walt’s first goal came at 4:49 of the first period unassisted. Walt’s second goal came at 11:33 of the third period, with Austin McKenzie and Christian Pansino picking up the assists.
Erzen scored his first goal at 6:42 of the second period, with Sam Hodic and Ryan Foll picking up the assists. Erzen scored his second goal, which turned into the game winning goal, at 7:58 of the third period, with Paul Lazzarotto and Daniel Machin picking up the assists.
Austin McKenzie scored one goal and one assist for two points. Sam Hodic and Daniel Machin got two assists for two points each.
Strat Allen’s first goal for the Ice Dogs, a power play goal, came at 17:58 of the third period, with Shannon McGregor and Marcus Hosen picking up the assists. The second goal for Allen was scored at 16:49 of the third period, with Cameron Todd and Frantisek Vlasek picking up the assists.
Cameron Todd and Frantisek Vlasek got two assists for two points each for the Ice Dogs.
Bryan Mackenzie was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 25 saves on 29 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.862. Jakob Doornbos was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 33 saves on 38 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.868.
