NEWCASTLE – A hat trick to Francis Drolet and two goals to Daniel Berno helped the Newcastle Northstars blow away the Melbourne Ice 9-3 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Drolet’s first goal, a power play goal, came at 6:44 of the second period, with Daniel Berno and Charles Smart picking up the assists. The second goal for Drolet, a power play goal, was scored at 16:06 of the third period, with Daniel Berno and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists. Drolet scored his third goal at 9:19 of the third period, with Richard Tesarik and Sean Oultram picking up the assists.

Berno’s first goal, a power play goal, came at 14:40 of the second period, with Francis Drolet and Robert Malloy picking up the assists. Berno’s second goal came at 5:17 of the second period, with Richard Tesarik and Francis Drolet picking up the assists.  Berno also scored three assists for five points.

Liam Manwarring’s first goal, a power play goal which became the game winner, came at 7:00 of the second period, with Dash Quartarolo and John Kennedy picking up the assists. The second goal for Manwarring was scored at 2:46 of the second period, with Patrick Nadin and Robert Malloy picking up the assists.  Manwarring also scored one assist for three points.

Richard Tesarik scored one goal and three assists for four points, while Robert Malloy scored one goal and two assists for three points.

Austin McKenzie, Lachie Cincotta and Zach Boyle scored the goals for the Ice, all in the first period.

Ethan Spelde was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 16 saves on 19 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.842.  Michael James was the losing goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 34 saves on 43 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.791.
