
SYDNEY – Richard Tesarik found the back of the net four times and Daniel Berno tallied four points as the Newcastle Northstars beat the Sydney Ice Dogs 6-3 at the Macquarie Ice Rink on Saturday evening.
Tesarik’s first goal came at 5:00 of the first period, with Daniel Berno getting the assist. Tesarik’s second goal, a power play goal, came at 0:23 of the second period, with Daniel Berno and John Kennedy Jr. picking up the assists. The third goal for Tesarik, the game winning goal, was scored at 15:40 of the third period, with Francis Drolet and Daniel Berno picking up the assists. Tesarik’s fourth goal, an empty net goal, came at 0:43 of the third period, with Daniel Berno and John Kennedy Jr. picking up the assists.
Daniel Berno got four assists for four points. John Kennedy Jr. and Patrick Nadin got two assists for two points each.
Dash Quartorolo and Robert Malloy also scored for the Northstars.
Aleksandr Dvinianinov scored his first goal for the Ice Dogs at 18:44 of the second period, with Aiden Sillato and Grant Toulmin picking up the assists. Dvinianinov scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 0:55 of the second period unassisted.
Charles Smart was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 24 saves on 27 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.889. Jakob Doornbos was the losing goalie for Sydney Ice Dogs, making 42 saves on 47 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.894.
