NEWCASTLE – Francis Drolet and Daniel Berno scored two goals each as the Newcastle Northstars defeated the Sydney Bears 7-4 at the Hunter Ice Skating Stadium on Saturday evening.

Drolet’s first goal, a power play goal, came at 3:41 of the second period, with Robert Malloy and Richard Tesarik picking up the assists. Drolet scored his second goal, which became the game winning goal, at 17:02 of the third period, with Patrick Nadin and Timothy Stanger picking up the assists.  Drolet also got two assists for four points.

The first goal for Berno was scored at 12:37 of the second period, with Richard Tesarik and Timothy Stanger picking up the assists. Berno scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 10:09 of the third period unassisted.  Berno also picked up two assists for four points for the game.

Robert Malloy scored his first goal, a power play goal, at 19:02 of the second period, with Francis Drolet and Daniel Berno picking up the assists. Malloy scored his second goal, a short handed goal, at 1:49 of the third period, with Francis Drolet and Timothy Stanger picking up the assists.  Malloy also got one assist for three points.

Richard Tesarik and Timothy Stanger got three assists for three points each.

Brian Funes and Robert Haselhurst got two assists for two points each for the Bears.

James Downie was the winning goalie for Newcastle Northstars, making 32 saves on 36 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.889.  Glen Forbes-White was the losing goalie for Sydney Bears, making 28 saves on 35 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.800.
