
MELBOURNE – Two goals to Paul Lazzarotto and Kahu Joyce earned two points as the Melbourne Ice won over the Melbourne Mustangs 4-3 in overtime at the O’Brien Icehouse on Saturday evening.
The first goal for Lazzarotto, a power play goal, was scored at 8:16 of the second period, with Sam Hodic and Andrew Erzen picking up the assists. Lazzarotto’s second goal came at 3:21 of overtime, with Kahu Joyce getting the assist.
Austin McKenzie opened the scoring for the Ice at 10:35 of the second period, assisted by Josh Walk.
Tim Nikitin scored his first AIHL goal at 4:59 of the second period, assisted by Kahu Joyce and Charlie Davis-Tope.
Kahu Joyce got two assists for two points.
Scott Timmins of the Mustangs scored his first goal, a short handed goal, at 7:31 of the third period, with Jacob Haley getting the assist. Timmins scored his second goal at 2:31 of the third period, with Matt Armstrong getting the assist.
Michael James was the winning goalie for Melbourne Ice, making 40 saves on 43 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.930. Michael Breedveld was the losing goalie for Melbourne Mustangs, making 27 saves on 31 shots, for a Save Percentage of 0.871.
